The Dance Alumni of the Theater Department are those who have defined themselves as Alums by their involvement and participation as actors, directors, designers and crew in the productions of Theater at Washington and Lee. They majored in a wide variety of disciplines but are united and defined by their love of theater.

Director Dance Alumni

Christine Bragg Mihan ’99 one of the founding members of W&L Dance, has been continuing her passion for dance since graduation-tap, ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, ballroon and Bharatanatyam.
Christine is currently the Marketing Director for the American Repertory Ballet. She is charge of marketing their 20-member professional company, their 3 Princeton Ballet School locations, and their Educational Outreach programs. 

She has choreographed numerous operas for Opera At Rutgers, has taught at four dance studios in New Jersey various dance disciplines. Additional choreography credits include Copelia, Princeton Ballet School Spring 2006 and Dance of Destiny: Mime, Myth and Modernism with Tala Shruti School of Dance, October 2006. After five years of studying Bharatanatyam ( a classical form of dance in India) with Renuka Srinivasan of the Tala Shruti School of Dance, she is helping Srinivasan open a studio and developing a curriculum of a fusion of the eastern and western forms of dance. 

During her W&L Dance career, Mihan served as the principal jazz and tap choreographer for the troupe. After studying abroad in Paris in 1999, she introduced W&L Dance to techno music by choreographing a techno tap duet for herself and Charron Hodges Montgomery using concepts learned during her stay in France. In addition, Mihan was instrumental in fundraising efforts and costume construction. Mihan is currently living with her husband, Eric, in Princeton, N.J. Cell phone, 732-690-7737. 1989 - 2000

Stephanie Knight Boitchenko a graduate of Smith College, danced with the W&L Dance Ballet Ensemble from 1998 - 2002. In addition to being a member of the ensemble, Boitchenko brought her flair for the visual arts into costume design and execution for the ensemble. Many costumes still being used by the ensemble were designed and executed by her. In 2005, Boitchenko completed her Masters degree in Dance Movement Therapy from Antioch New England and currently works with adults in Elizabeth, N.J. as a dance/movement and creative arts therapist. She lives with her husband in Staten Island, N.Y.

Sarah Moore Fulford ’99, was one of the original W&L Dance Ensemble dancers. After graduation, Sarah spent seven years working in general management and sales for McMaster-Carr Supply Co. and then for Eli Lilly & Co. Currently, Fulford is pursuing her MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. While performing in W&L Dance, she was instrumental in petitioning the physical education department, then under the direction of Chuck O’Connell, to start a beginning ballet class for PE credit. She served as rehearsal mistress, raised funds for the troupe, designed make-up and constructed costumes for the dancers. Fulford also developed the original mission statement for W&L Dance. Sarah is delighted to return to the Lenfest Center stage to help celebrate 10 successful years of the W&L Dance Ensemble. She was married in 2003. 

Julie Horwitz ’00, spent a year teaching English in Prague, Czech Republic after graduation. Back in the U.S., she worked as a research technician in a gynecologic oncology lab at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Currently, Horwitz is finishing her 2nd year as a doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at the University of Albany in New York, where she is specializing in neuropsychology. She was a tremendous attribute to the foundation of W&L Dance, joining the organization in its 2nd year of existence. In addition to her performing talents, Horwitz served as rehearsal mistress and teacher of advanced ballet and chaired the organization with fundraising and advertising efforts, among other duties.

2000 - 2004

Charron Hodges Montgomery ’02, is a graduate of the University of Richmond School of Law and is currently attending Georgetown University Law Center for her Masters of Laws in Taxation. In 2005, she passed the Virginia State Bar exam. During Montgomery’s time here with W&L Dance, she was active as a tap and jazz choreographer and dancer and taught jazz at the Shenandoah Academy of Dance. 

Bethany Petrofsky ’02, has been working for the Naval Sea Systems Command doing major weapons systems procurement for the U.S. Navy since graduation. In addition to her full-time job, she is pursing her Master’s in Public Administration from George Washington University. During Petrofsky’s time with W&L Dance, she was active as a dancer and as a choreographer of jazz for the Ensemble.

Robin Okin ’03, resides in her hometown of Lynchburg, Va. and works as a pharmaceutical representative for Merck & Co., Inc. She was extremely active with W&L Dance, both as a ballet dancer and as chairperson for the organization. Okin organized and carried out fundraisers and advertising for the Ensemble and rallied yearly for funding from the Executive Committee. She also served as a rehearsal mistress for the Ensemble and taught advanced ballet at the Shenandoah Academy of Dance. 

Victoria Guroian ’04, continues her study of ballet at the Center for Ballet Arts in Fairfax, Va. She currently is a fundraiser for the National Rifle Association and lives in Washington, D.C. During her career at W&L Dance, Guroian was instrumental in fundraising efforts, taught classes for the Ensemble and at Shenandoah Academy of Dance. She was the first dancer in W&L Dance history to perform a pas de deux. 

Kim Sampson '04  is working at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C. She was recently licensed in stage make-up and is on her way to achieving her goal of becoming a free lance make-up artist. (4/24/06)


2005 - 2006

Mary Christopher ’06, a senior economics major from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. has been a member of W&L Dance Tap for four years. She has performed in seven of the tap dance concerts, only missing one concert while interning in D.C. last spring. Christopher comments, “W&L Dance has given me a creative outlet and an exposure to great people and talent.” The Spring Dance Concert 2006 will be her final performance on the W&L stage. Christopher plans to continue teaching tap and participating in dance classes.

Kristin N. P. Evans ’06, a senior journalism/mass communications and politics major from Clinton, Md. has been dancing with the program and W&L Dance Concerts since her freshman year. Since her beginnings in W&L Dance, she has been instrumental in helping to redefine the jazz/hip-hop dance program and choreographing for numerous concerts.
