Course Taught:

DANC 292 (2) Applied Ballet
Prerequisite: Permission of the Instructor.  This studio course is devoted to the practice of classical ballet technique and to the exploration of classical and contemporary ballet in performance.  The course will culminate in a performance presentation.  This course may be repeated for credit with permission.  
Fall, Winter, Spring.

Professional Choreography/Performance Credentials

Sandra Meythaler is the Manager General of Roanoke Ballet Theatre and a principle ballerina with the National Ballet of Ecuador. She has performed ballet and contemporary dance throughout Belgium, Germany, Italy, England, Spain, France, Brazil, Columbia and Japan. 

Awards include a Silver Medal in the Festival International de Dance in Dijon-France in 1986 and a Bronze Medal in the Festival de Dance in Gastrovillari, Italy in 1986. Additional awards include Best Performance in Festival International de dance in Tarascon-France in 1988, nomination for the best interpretation in the first Festival of Choreography in Ecuador in 1991, an award given by Hitoshi Motochino (Mayor of Nagasaki) in 1994 and a Gold medal given by Organization MINON in Tokyo in 1994.

She began working professionally at the age of 15 with Compania Nacional de Dance and in 1989. She worked with the National Ballet of Ecuador, and danced with Ballet Novo, Opera Ecuador, Koral y Esmeralda. In 2001, she became a part of Roanoke Ballet Theater. She teaches at Roanoke Ballet Theater, Roanoke College and in the American Dance Festival ADF.
